University Extension
The São Leopoldo Mandic Faculty views extension activities as a means of offering society the scientific, technological, and cultural potential of the institution. Extension represents a fundamental function equivalent to research and teaching.
Our Mission
Extension as a primary function of the Institution
The outreach activities at São Leopoldo Mandic are classified according to the areas of knowledge proposed by CAPES and seek to continuously expand the number of beneficiaries, meet relevant social demands, and ensure a two-way relationship between the Faculty and society.
University extension programs represent the materialization of Mandic's social commitment: to bring the knowledge built in the academic environment to the community, while social reality feeds and enriches the teaching and research process within the institution.
Through ongoing projects, traveling campaigns, and partnerships with public and private entities, students apply their knowledge in real-world contexts, developing essential human skills such as empathy, leadership, teamwork, and social responsibility.

Health Boat
Honorable Mention ABMES 2018
A project that brings free medical and dental care to remote and riverside communities. Born from an idea by two young students from the Faculty, the program has expanded to reach hard-to-access regions where the population lacks basic health services. The documentary 'Amazon: the lung, the blood and the green-yellow blood cells', which recorded the project, received an Honorable Mention from ABMES in 2018.

Mandic Social Movement
Monthly activity carried out by members of the academic community with people experiencing homelessness. Volunteers deliver food, blankets, hygiene kits, and clothing to the homeless, promoting dignity, shelter, and care for the most vulnerable in society.

Mandic Express
A program providing medical and dental care in underprivileged areas, conducted through mobile units (trailers) equipped as consulting rooms. It offers educational, preventative, and curative services in the specialties of Internal Medicine, Dermatology, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, and Pediatrics, bringing quality healthcare to those who need it most.

Eco Mandic
An annual event focused on Environmental Education that promotes the Conscious Disposal Program, provides an Eco-point for depositing recyclable materials, and encourages the adoption of digital radiography as a sustainable alternative to conventional radiographic film, reducing the environmental impact of clinical activities.

São Leopoldo Mandic supports local theatrical productions and cultural initiatives, reinforcing its role as an agent of social transformation that goes beyond the area of health. Health Boat
Born from the idea of two young students from the Faculty, the Health Boat brings free medical and dental care to riverside and hard-to-reach communities in the Amazon. The documentary "Amazon: the lung, the blood and the green-yellow blood cells", by photographer Giancarlo Gianelli, recorded the expedition and received an Honorable Mention from ABMES in 2018.
